Abstract

The proposed research explores the significant contribution of vocational education and skill-oriented
courses in achieving a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat). As India transitions towards a
knowledge-driven economy, the demand for skilled professionals across various sectors has increased,
necessitating a shift towards practical, hands-on learning. This study examines how vocational training,
coupled with internships and industry collaborations, empowers individuals with employable skills,
fosters entrepreneurship, and enhances productivity. The research emphasizes the role of government
initiatives and educational reforms in aligning curricula with industry needs, facilitating
apprenticeships, and creating a workforce capable of contributing to the nation’s economic growth. By
promoting job-oriented courses, this study highlights how vocational education bridges the gap
between formal education and industry requirements, creating a skilled workforce capable of driving
innovation and economic development. Furthermore, the study investigates the impact of internships
and on-the-job training in enhancing practical exposure and improving employability. In the context of
Atmanirbhar Bharat, this research underscores the need for an integrated approach to education that
supports skill development, fosters self-sufficiency, and accelerates socio-economic progress for India
